1. About these terms
These Terms of Service apply to your use of thedesignhotline.com and any service purchased from The Design Hotline. By submitting a client questionnaire, purchasing a service or otherwise asking us to begin work, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not purchase or use the service.
2. The Designer Edit
The Designer Edit is a personalized, virtual interior design consultation for one living room, dining room or bedroom. Unless we confirm something different in writing, it includes answers to three priority design questions, personalized recommendations about what to keep, change and add, layout and styling guidance, up to five product suggestions when helpful, a PDF action plan and one follow up question submitted within seven calendar days after delivery.
The service does not include live meetings, measured drawings, renderings, construction documents, permit drawings, engineering, architecture, code review, contractor supervision, purchasing, installation or complete room sourcing.
3. Starting the project
A website inquiry does not reserve a booking. Your project is confirmed only after The Design Hotline accepts the room, receives full payment and receives a complete questionnaire with usable photographs, measurements and requested information.
The five business day delivery period begins on the start date confirmed by email. Weekends and United States federal holidays are not business days. Missing, inaccessible or unclear information may pause the timeline until the issue is resolved.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate measurements, complete photographs, honest budget information and any restrictions that may affect the recommendations. You must verify all dimensions, quantities, clearances, product specifications, installation requirements and building rules before purchasing, installing or altering anything.
You are responsible for deciding whether a recommendation is appropriate for your home, household, children, pets, health needs, rental agreement and local requirements. Hire qualified licensed professionals whenever structural, electrical, plumbing, construction, safety or code related work is involved.
5. Product recommendations
Products are selected using the information available at the time your plan is prepared. Prices, finishes, dimensions, shipping costs, delivery dates and availability can change without notice. A linked product may sell out or look different in person or on screen.
The Design Hotline does not manufacture, sell, inspect, deliver or install recommended products. Any purchase is a separate transaction between you and the retailer. Retailer policies, warranties, returns and delivery issues are the retailer’s responsibility. Any affiliate relationship will be disclosed where applicable.
6. Creative judgment and results
Interior design is subjective. The Designer Edit reflects professional creative judgment based on the information you provide. We cannot promise that every recommendation will match personal expectations or produce a particular financial, aesthetic or functional result.
One follow up question is included to clarify the delivered plan. It does not include a redesign, additional room, new product search or a new set of questions. Additional work may require a separate fee and written agreement.
7. Fees and payment
Prices are shown before payment and may change for future bookings. The price confirmed at checkout applies to that booking. Payments may be processed by Stripe or another stated payment provider. You authorize the provider to process the payment information you submit.
Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Intellectual property
Your completed Designer Edit is licensed to you for personal use in the named room. You may save, print and share it with members of your household and professionals helping you implement the plan. You may not resell, publish, reproduce for commercial use, remove branding from, or use the plan for another client, property or business without written permission.
The Design Hotline retains ownership of its templates, layouts, methods, graphics, written framework and general design materials. You retain ownership of the photographs and materials you submit. You give us permission to use them privately as needed to provide the service. We will not use your room photographs for marketing without separate permission.
9. Website and external links
Website content is provided for general information and may be updated. Links to retailers, inspiration platforms, storage providers and other websites are offered for convenience. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, availability or performance.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, The Design Hotline is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the website, the service, a retailer, a contractor or an implementation decision. Our total liability for a claim relating to a paid service will not exceed the amount you paid for that service.
Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
11. Changes and ending service
We may decline a project or end a service if the requested work is outside scope, information is misleading, communication becomes abusive, payment is disputed or continuing would be unsafe or unlawful. If we end a project for reasons not caused by the client and before delivery, the applicable payment will be refunded.
We may update these terms. The version in effect when your booking is confirmed will apply to that booking unless a change is required by law or agreed in writing.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Alameda County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
